That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime ｢転生したらスライムだった件, Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken｣ is an anime series based on the light novels and manga of the same name, although it only officially credits the manga as its source material.
The anime was first announced on March 7, 2018.[1] It was later announced that the series would run for two cours,[2] and premiered on October 1, 2018.[3] The series was simulcast by Crunchyroll,[4] with a simuldub by Funimation that premiered on October 22, 2018.[5][6] The first season ran for 24 episodes and 1 special episode.[7][8] Season 1 was produced by 8-Bit and ran for 24 episodes and a special episode. This series aired from October 2, 2018 to March 26, 2019 and had an extra of 5 OADs afterwards. The series was simulcast by Crunchyroll, with a simuldub by Funimation that premiered on October 22, 2018. Muse Asia premiered all 24 + 1 special episode to audiences in Asia.
A second season was first announced on March 17, 2019.[9] It was later announced that the second season ran for two split-cours, the first cour premiered on January 12, 2021, and the second cour premiered on July 6, 2021. The second season will be simulcast by Crunchyroll, with a simuldub by Funimation that premiered on February 16, 2021. The second season's split-cours was initially slated to premiere in October 2020 and April 2020, respectively, but was delayed due to COVID-19.[10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17]
An OAD was initially slated for release on March 29, 2019; bundled with the eleventh manga volume.[18] However, this was delayed to December 4, 2019; bundled with the thirteenth manga volume due to "various circumstances."[19] A second OAD was announced for July 9, 2019; bundled with the twelfth manga volume.[20] Crunchyroll streamed the OADs worldwide outside of Asia.[21][22] Funimation streamed simuldubs of the OADs on August 1, 2019, and January 22, 2020.[23][24][25] A three-part OAD series, written by Fuse, was announced for March 27, 2020, July 9, 2020, and November 27, 2020; bundled with the fourteenth, fifteenth, and sixteenth manga volumes, respectively.[26][27][28]
The Anime can be watched on Hulu, Prime Video, Apple TV, and Crunchyroll.
As of August 5, 2021, the anime has reportedly been watched 1 billion times.[29]
